Monday is the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America, and IUP will be having its annual ceremony honoring the three university alumni and 2,974 other victims who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.
The event at IUP’s 9/11 Memorial in the Oak Grove begins at 11:40 AM. The speakers will be IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll, ROTC Cadet Abigail Knapp, whose family owned the land in Somerset County on which Flight 93 crashed, and Dr. Michael Tyree, an associate professor at IUP who is the faculty lead for the Flight 93 National Memorial Reforestation Monitoring Project. Lieutenant Colonel Erich Steffens will serve as master of ceremonies and the IUP Wind Ensemble will provide music under the direction of Timothy Paul. In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors to Fisher Auditorium.
