Just before the marching bands took to the stage and track at the Indiana County Fair, the competitors in the annual Kiss-A-Pig fundraising contest gathered to see who raised the most money and wound up kissing a pig.

The annual fundraising contest benefits the Evergreen After School Club, which provides after-school and summer programming for grade-school students in school districts throughout the county. For the first time this year, the fundraiser had teams of two working together raising money rather than individually. Denise Jennings with the Evergreen After School Club talks about how that impacted the success of this year’s campaign.
This year, over $28,000 was raised for Evergreen After School Club, with Larissa Murphy and Erin Dougherty of First Commonwealth Bank coming out on top by raising over $11,000. Murphy talked about how important it was to contribute to a local cause.
Dougherty said that it was difficult to kiss the pig, named Z-Dog.
