The money for the two projects will come from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs act’s Bridge Formula Investment Program. One project will be fully funded by the federal funds, and that will be for the bridge that takes Route 422 over Two Lick Creek, which costs $9,062,016. The other project will be for two smaller bridges: one on Wayne Avenue near the KCAC and the other on Carter Avenue. $5,262,121 in program funds will be used to pay for that project that costs nearly $12 million.
Senator Casey talked about the importance of the federal dollars going to bridge projects as Pennsylvania is the state with the second highest number of bridges in the nation that are ranked “poor”.
The Two Lick Creek project is expected to wrap up on November 21st of this year, while the Wayne Avenue/Carter Avenue Project has a projected completion date of October 25th of next year.
