This marks the second year for the residency program at IRMC, where the participants gain experience in several areas of medicine as part of the work they do. Residency Director Dr. Amanda Vaglia said that it’s been exciting to see the program grow.
Michael Talotta from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania said that he heard about the residency program through the Rural Family Medicine podcast created by IRMC and IUP, specifically the episode that Dr. Vaglia was a guest on.
Kelly Meyer from Elderton knows IRMC very well as she was born at the hospital. Remaining local was the main reason why she wanted to do the residency in Indiana.
Tauseef Akhlaque said that he enjoyed the small-town setting and the rigorous program being offered.
Siri Geytenbeek said that she had some rotations at IRMC in the past and fell in love with the rural setting right away.
Hytham Bishtawi of Conneticut said that he had heard of the program as he was exploring options in Western Pennsylvania.
Gagandeep Brah said that the main draw for him was the fact that he would be able to gain experience in many different medicine fields in the residency.
Chelsea Gray said she wanted a program close to home and also wanted to work in osteopathic medicine.
As this is the second year of the program, IRMC is two-thirds of the way to their full complement of resident physicians.
