A post-conviction relief act hearing is scheduled for today for a man convicted of killing a cellmate in 2019.
In September of 2020, 46-year-old Dwight Darnell Bowen was found guilty of third-degree murder in connection with the death of 32-year-old Luis Santiago. He was killed January 1st of 2019 in a cell at SCI Pine Grove in Indiana County. Bowen called for prison guards who found Santiago unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at Indiana Regional Medical Center due to asphyxia due to venous obstruction. On top of the life prison sentence that Bowen was already serving, Bowen was ordered to serve 20 to 40 years in prison.
This marks the fourth time that the court system will try to hold the hearing as it has been postponed three times over the last six months.
