Three fire companies were summoned to assist ambulance personnel at the Ghost Town Trail in Buffington Township yesterday.
Indiana County 911 sent Armagh/East Wheatfield, Nanty Glo, and Vintondale fire crews to the area of the trail along Route 403 South around 1:11 PM to assist Citizens’ Ambulance for what was deemed a physical rescue call. Vintondale fire officials, however, said it was not a rescue, but rather a medical emergency in which firefighters helped a person get off the trail and into an ambulance. No other details are available.
A vehicle accident was reported 45 minutes later and it sent Indiana Fire Association members, the county rescue team, and state police to the parking lot at the White Township Walmart for a crash involving two cars. Fire officials say no one was injured nor was there any entrapment. Crews were able to clear the scene quickly.
And firefighters from Pine and Cherryhill townships were called to assist EMS at a location along Pine Street in Pine Township.
