Indiana County Judge Michael Clark last week continued a post conviction collateral relief hearing for Dwight Bowen, the 46-year-old Philadelphia man who killed his cellmate at SCI Pine Grove on January 1st, 2019 and was found guilty of third degree murder.
Bowen was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for the strangulation death of Luis Santiago. He was already serving life in prison for the 2001 firebombing of a Philadelphia rowhouse, a fire in which two small children were killed and two adults were injured.
At trial, Bowen claimed self defense in Santiago’s death, also claiming that Santiago suffered an epileptic seizure on the night of his death.
Judge Clark set the new date for the relief hearing for August 3rd.
