After a major stumble in their series against the lowly Oakland A’s, the Pirates look to steady themselves tonight as they open a three-game set with the New York Mets. Joe Block looks at the pitching matchup.
On the top prospects watch, Endy Rodriguez was 1-for-3 in Indianapolis’ loss to Omaha. He was thrown out of the game after arguing about being called out on a grounder up the middle on which he was obviously safe. Henry Davis moved to catcher and was 2-for-5 with a stolen base.
ALTOONA CURVE
A tough loss for Jared Jones and Altoona, 2-0 at Richmond. Jones threw six no-hit innings before giving up a home run in the seventh, and the Curve offense could only scrape together two hits. Both Matt Gorski and Mason Martin were 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
After winning six in a row, the Curve have lost their last two. They will send Sean Sullivan to the mound tonight.
