Four Heritage Conference girls’ basketball teams played in the first round of the PIAA playoffs Friday night, but only two moved on to the second round.
The District 6 2A champion Homer-Center Wildcats knocked out Chartiers-Houston, 43-20, at the HomerDome. Mark Bertig had the call on WCCS.
In 3A, District 6 champion River Valley Panthers held on in a much closer battle, beating York Catholic, 60-52, at River Valley High School. Jake Slebodnick had the call on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
The night did not go as well for 2A United and Marion Center. The Stingers were eliminated by WPIAL champion Shenango, 50-43. United took Burgettstown to overtime and lost, 57-52. Todd Marino had the call on U92.5 FM.
