Only two cases were brought before Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas on Friday for sentencing and revocation hearings.
The sentencing hearing was for an Indiana man who pleaded guilty to burglary, criminal trespass, theft, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Court documents show that 31-year-old James R. Shaffer, Jr. was originally charged in connection with an incident on May 18th of last year. He entered guilty pleas to all the charges and was ordered to serve 1-2 years in state prison each for charges of burglary, trespass and criminal mischief and six months to a year in state prison each for theft and disorderly conduct. President Judge Thomas Bianco ordered the charges to run concurrently, meaning he will serve a maximum of two years in state prison.
There was also a parole revocation hearing held yesterday for Bradley R. Smith of Indiana for a case of Criminal Mischief from March 7th of 2021. His parole was revoked for the balance of his sentence and street time was also revoked. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 29th.
