The Indiana County Commissioners got a good Covid-19 update during today’s meeting.
Indiana County Emergency Services Director Tom Stutzman said that the county’s covid-19 rates were lower than anticipated for the holiday season.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a $250,000 revolving loan fund loan to Upstreet Ace Hardware. The new store will be located in the 600 block of Philadelphia Street between the Italian Village Pizza and the former PNC Bank office. The money will be used for the startup of the store, which is expected to create five full-time and six part-time employees over the next three years.
The Commissioners also approved the Act 13 Impact Fee distribution of $105,600.20 the county received for unconventional gas wells in the county. $55,600.20 will go to the county’s capital reserve fund, $20,000 will go to funding for farmland preservation, and $15,000 each will go to the Indiana County Fire Academy and to the county HAZMAT/EMA team.
