The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce has secured an agreement to bring Downtown Indiana, Incorporated into a partnership arrangement.
According to a news release, the agreement officially took effect on January 1st, with efforts to unite the two organizations going on since the fall of 2021.
Chamber president Mark Hillard said he hopes that while things are going to remain the same for the most part, both organizations will improve.
Both organizations are looking to pool their resources and talents to “bolster community engagement and economic developments in the downtown area.” That is the hope of Joe Kinter of Downtown Indiana, Incoroprated with the extra exposure that the Chamber can bring.
Downtown Indiana will continue to operate under its board of directors with oversight and resources provided by the Chamber. The search will continue for a new executive director for Downtown Indiana, Inc. Under the agreement, the position will be housed in the Chamber of Commerce’s office on Philadelphia Street.
