Sidney Crosby has been chosen to play in the NHL All-Star Game on February 4th in Sunrise, Florida. Crosby had a goal and an assist last night to bring his total so far this season to 20 goals and 25 assists. It’s his ninth All-Star selection, although he has missed four of the eight games for which he was chosen due to injury.
Crosby will skate with the Metro Division team in the three-on-three tournament format. While no other Penguins have been named to the team, fan voting will determine two more skaters and one more goaltender. The Metro Division will be high-powered, depending on who actually commits to playing in the game, with Crosby joined by Washington’s Alex Ovechkin, Carolina’s Andrei Svechnikov, Columbus’s Johnny Gaudreau, New Jersey’s Jack Hughes, the Islanders’ Brock Nelson, and Philadelphia’s Kevin Hayes. The goaltender is the Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin. The position players have accounted for 123 goals. That’s more goals than the selections from any other division.
The Penguins next game is Sunday night in Phoenix against the Arizona Coyotes, facing off at 7 PM.
