The latest NABC Coaches Poll was released yesterday and three regional teams cracked the Top 15. One of those teams is IUP.
The Crimson Hawks men’s basketball team come in this morning ranked third in the poll after a perfect start to its season at 5-0. They garnered a first-place vote in the poll as well, marking the only other team to receive a nod aside from current leader, Northwest Missouri State.
Others in the region placing in the NABC poll include West Liberty at No. 5 and Fairmont State at No. 12.
IUP also finds itself ranked in the Top Three in two other Division II polls. The Crimson Hawks top the D2SIDA Atlantic Region poll, while coming in second in the overall D2SIDA poll.
NCAA DIVISION I
In college basketball action last night, Duquesne equaled last year’s win total, at six, with a 72-61 win over UC Santa Barbara. Guard Dae Dae Grant went 9-for-14 on the floor and collected 26 points. Austin Rotroff added eight rebounds for the Dukes.
Elsewhere, Clemson beat Penn State in double overtime, 101-94. Cameron Wynter had 26 points for the Nittany Lions.
There was also one upset last night. Unranked Marquette took down No. 6 Baylor, 96-70, thanks to a 14-0 run in the first half.
