The longest tenured player with the Pirates is no longer with the team.
The Bucs traded middle-infielder Kevin Newman to NL rival Cincinatti Reds. In return, the bucs acquire right-handed reliever 26-year-old Daniel Moreta from the Dominican Republic. He was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 13 walks in 38 and a thirds innings over 35 appearances last season.
Newman was a 2015 first round pick out of Arizona with a batting average of .260 with 67 doubles, 11 triples, 20 homers and 143 RBI’s in 431 games over five seasons with the Bucs.
Last season, Newman was out two months with hamstring and groin injuries.
