Marion Center’s girls couldn’t get past Tyrone last night in the District 6 Double-A semifinals. The Stingers lost out on their chance to play for the District title, dropping their game 3-0 on scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-13. Tyrone will play Philipsburg Osceola in the final tomorrow afternoon.
The Homer-Center Wildcats will also be on the court tomorrow looking for a District 6 championship. The Class A title game leads off the action at noon at the Altoona Fieldhouse with third seed Homer-Center clashing with top seed West Branch.
Wildcats coach Beth Cutshall is anticipating a tight matchup.
Homer-Center and West Branch met in the semifinals last year and the Wildcats won it in five sets before falling the finals to Bishop Giulfoyle. The two teams have only one opponent in common this season. Both have played Elk County Catholic in tournament action, with Homer-Center splitting with ECC in their game while West Branch lost to the Crusaders, 2-0 in another tournament.
