A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to serve probation after leading police on a chase last year.
Court reports say 24-year-old John Robert Cottrell will serve two years of probation for felony fleeing and eluding police, after he led state troopers on a 15-mile chase on November 24th last year. Cottrell pleaded guilty to a single count of fleeing and attempting to elude police after he was clocked in at 98 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone along Route 22 near Bowser Road in East Wheatfield Township.
Cottrell tried to flee police, going as fast as 120 miles per hour, and swerved in and out of traffic as he went onto Cramer Pike. He gave up near Locust Street.
Also sentenced today was 37-year-old Bryan Daniel Henry of Indiana, who was charged with two counts of simple assault, three counts each of terroristic threats, harassment and criminal mischief, and single counts of resisting arrest, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.
Henry will serve one year of probation for the charges of Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats and Resisting Arrest. In addition, he will pay fines for one count each of Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats and Resisting Arrest.
The charges for harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief were not prosecuted.
Additionally, 22-year-old Patrick Allen Spiers of Dubois will serve one year of probation each for charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment. Those charges stemmed from an incident in August last year.
