At Monday night’s meeting, the Marion Center School Board approved the annual review for Superintendent Clint Weimer.
The review for the 2021-2022 school year gave Weimer an “above average” rating. Board President Gregg Sacco talked about the evaluation process.
The vote was 7 votes in favor of the evaluation, with Charles Beatty, Jr. wishing to abstain.
In other business, Beatty said at the end of the meeting under discussion items that he would like to see the district start a charter school that would work alongside the regular school in an effort to help improve the student’s education. He said that the inspiration for this are declining standardized tests.
He also said that he felt that the teachers contracts were also making things difficult, saying they could not reward good teachers or fire bad ones. Fellow board member Ron Fulton said while he is willing to discuss the idea, he felt the comments about teachers were not correct.
The issue will go before the board in a work session before it comes back at a voting meeting.
