Shelton says the Pirates need to take their New York misadventures into the restroom and dispose of it properly.
The Pirates return home for their next seven games, against two of the lesser teams in the NL Central. They will play four against the Cubs and three against the Reds. Mitch Keller [5-11, 4.03 ERA] pitches for the Bucs tonight against Cubs’ righty Hayden Wesneski [1-1, 2.30 ERA]. Airtime on WCCS is 6:10,
The Pirates’ Altoona call-ups to Indianapolis continued to shine yesterday. 2019 first-round draft choice Quinn Priester threw five shutout innings in a 7-1 win over St. Paul. Priester gave up two hits and walked two while striking out six to get his first Triple-A win. Colin Selby then threw a shutout inning in relief, and Endy Rodriguez, who played second base, was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Another Curve call-up, first baseman Malcom Nunez bombed a home run in the fifth inning, the second half of a back-to-back home run display with former Curve infielder Blake Sabol.
