Prior to the Pony League World Series starting this weekend in Washington, PA, one player from Indiana County made headlines during the skills competition.
Charlie Manzi fended off 19 participants to take home the Home Run Derby title. Manzi placed in the top four in the first round and broke away from the pack to win the title. In addition to the solo crown, Manzi and teammate Brock Bryson won the team title for Johnstown.
The team’s first game is tonight at 6 p.m.

Pennsylvania will have representation in this year’s Little League World Series tournament, after Hollidaysburg downed Wilmington, Delaware, 7-3, yesterday afternoon to claim the Mid-Atlantic Championship.
Hollidaysburg brought home the sixth Mid-Atlantic title in Pennsylvania and became the 35th team from Pennsylvania to reach the Little League World Series.
Their first game will be against Southwest champion Pearland, Texas, Thursday night at 7 p.m.
