Westmoreland County Court will hold Criminal Call tomorrow and the Ray Shetler Jr. trial is on the list of cases up for review, so we could possibly hear whether or not the trial will take place as scheduled next week.
The 37-year-old Shetler, now listed as living in Bolivar, has been in jail since last December, when he brawled with sheriff’s deputies and state troopers who found him hiding at his girlfriend’s mobile home outside of Seward after he skipped a probation hearing.
Both Shetler and a sheriff’s deputy suffered serious injuries during the fight. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and single counts of disarming a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
Shetler was scheduled for trial in June and insisted it be held as scheduled, threatening legal action if it was delayed, but Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio did postpone it, until August 15th. Meanwhile, Shetler’s girlfriend, Keeley Shay Morgan, is scheduled for Plea Court on Wednesday on a single charge of hindering apprehension. The trailer’s owner, Kenneth Krouse, is also awaiting court action on the same charge.
