The six doctors represent the first ever residency class at IRMC. President and CEO Steve Wolfe called the program transformative for the hospital as it becomes now a place of learning.
Dr. Amanda Vaglia is the director of the residency program, and she says that program participants will learn a lot in this program as they experience a little bit of everything.
Dr. Esther Ezeani of Baltimore said one of the attractions to the program was the fact that it was innovative.
Also joining the program is Dr. Robin Rodriguez who grew up in a small town outside Corpus Christi, said that one of the main appeals was being in the rural setting.
Dr. Narinder Sangha of Modesta said that he wanted to work in a rural place, but he was also wanting to be part of the first class to help guide the future of the program.
Dr. Nawar Al janabi of Bagdhad was looking forward to getting experience in many different areas.
Dr. Tanvi Bharathan is a native of Indiana, and she talked about wanting to be able to serve the community she grew up in.
Dr. Mohit Chhatpar said that even though he was born and raised outside of New York City, he got a taste for rural life as he worked towards his doctorate in Mississippi.
These residents will be part of the program at IRMC for three years. Six more doctors will join the program next year, and the program will have at most eighteen total resident doctors.
