Indiana County 911 reported that the Marion Center, Plumville, Dayton and Perry Township fire departments were initially dispatched at 11:24 PM to Robert Pearce and Sons Lumber yard at 7416 Route 210 in North Mahoning Township. Rural Valley, Punxsutawney and Lindsey fire departments were dispatched later on to assist, and Clymer, Indiana and Commodore fire departments were summoned to provide standby coverage.
Officials with Marion Center Fire Department say that a 130 by 40 foot building was fully involved by the time fire crews arrived. That building was attached to a 50 by 50 foot building as well, but the smaller building had minimal fire damage. Officals estimate that at least $250,000 in damage was done by the fire. No word yet on the cause of the fire. State Police Fire Marshals are investigating.
Aside from the fire, Thursday was a relatively quiet day for first responders. Indiana County 911 reports that a vehicle accident was reported at 1:03 PM in Armstrong County. Plumville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for that call. There were also two calls for utility lines down: one on Route 403 south in East Wheatfield Township at 2:35 PM. The other was at 8:06 PM for the same type of call on Shrokman Road in Young Township.
