To commemorate Memorial Day and pay tribute to those who have died serving our country, several events will be held today throughout Indiana County.
Rural Valley will have both a parade and memorial services. The service will be at 10:30 at the Yatesboro Cemetery then at 11:00 at Rural Valley Cemetery, with a parade to follow at 11:15. At noon, Senator Joe Pittman is scheduled to give remarks at the Shannock Valley War Memorial.
In Indiana, there will be a Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park along South 6th Street. The program will be put on by the American Legion and a luncheon for Legion members will follow.
Memorial Day Parades are scheduled for Plumville and Marion Center areas today, with the parade in Plumville scheduled to start at 11:00 AM and the Marion Center Parade at 1:00 PM. Parades are also scheduled for Saltsburg at 8:30 AM and in Blairsville at 10:30 AM.
In Rossiter, Memorial Day services are set for 2:00 this afternoon at Pine Cemetery.
Elderton’s parade has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, but the local fire department’s Memorial Day Chicken BBQ sale will go on as scheduled from 11-2.
