A candidate for state representative in the 62nd District has issued a statement about the filing of criminal charges against an 18-year-old Indiana man connected to his campaign.
Brian Doyle, an IUP senior working toward his bachelor’s degree in history, said 18-year-old Jonathan Midkiff is no longer involved in his campaign for the 62nd District Democratic Party nomination.
District Attorney Bob Manzi yesterday announced that Midkiff is charged with misdemeanor forgery, tampering with records or identification, tampering with public records, and unsworn falsification. Manzi said county detectives responding to a complaint about the petition allege that ten of the signatures were forged.
Doyle apologized on behalf of his campaign and said he has “met the legal requirement of legitimate signatures.” He pledged to take measures to ensure “nothing like this” happens in the future.

STATEMENT FROM CANDIDATE BRIAN DOYLE:
Brian Doyle for Pennsylvania House Campaign Responds to
Allegations Against Former Campaign VolunteerCampaign Looks Forward to Focusing on Issues Affecting the 62nd District
April 21, 2022
Today our campaign learned that a volunteer formerly involved with our campaign allegedly forged voters’ signatures on at least one of our nominating petitions. This individual is no longer involved with our campaign and has been contacted by the authorities to face the proper consequences.
The campaign apologizes for the distrust brought on by this individual’s actions, and we will be taking measures to ensure nothing like this happens within our campaign again.
House candidate Brian Doyle remarked, “My campaign is committed to working for the people of Indiana. We will not let the actions of one of our workers deter us from building a coalition that is dedicated to making our community a better and more inclusive place. We met the legal requirement of legitimate signatures despite this setback and this allegation is not a reflection of our campaign.”
The Doyle campaign is committed to moving forward from this incident and continuing to focus on having essential discussions about issues facing families every day. Hardworking Indiana County residents deserve property tax relief, proper education funding, and affordable healthcare.
