Preliminary hearings will be held today for two people from Indiana charged in an animal cruelty case.
Hearings for 23-year-olds Kyleigh Lower and Decosta Bobak are scheduled for 1:15 this afternoon in front of District Judge Guy Haberl. The two were charged in connection with an investigation that started on February 16th. Police were conducting an unrelated investigation when they saw a malnourished dog in the area of North 4th Street in Indiana. Criminal investigators and police returned the next day and started an animal welfare investigation and found two dogs at 71 North 4th Street that were malnourished and had sores on their body. The dogs were confined in a pen where animal waste was visible. One dog was also being maintained in a location without heat. The dogs were voluntarily surrendered to the Indiana County Humane Society after the investigation.
Both Lower and Bobak are facing charges of aggravated cruelty to animals causing serious bodily injury or death.
