The Indiana High School track and field teams returned to action Tuesday afternoon, playing host to Latrobe in a section meet.
The Indiana boys defeated the Wildcats by a score of 87-63 winning 14 of the 18 contested events. Senior Owen Putt and freshman Stanford Webb led the way for the Indians each winning three individual events on the day. Putt had a fantastic day on the track winning the 100 meters (11.6), 200 meters (23.6), and the 400 meters (51.2). Webb did his damage in the field winning the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-10), and triple jump (35-4.5). Other individual event winners for the boys included Will Berzonsky in the 800 meters (2:10.7), Ben Cochran in the shot put (41-0), Josh Saurer in the pole vault (13-6), Seth Weaver in the 3200 meters (11:26.0), Owen Lawson in the javelin (111-7), and Will Methven in the discus (116-0). In the relays the team of Berzonsky, Jacob Gill, Jacob Killeen, and Seth Weaver won the 4×800 with a time of 9:02.6 and the quartet of Putt, Berzonsky, Gill, and Charlie Weber won the 4×400 with a time of 3:37.0. The boys move to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in the section with their win.
In the girls meet Latrobe defeated Indiana by a score of 80-70. Abbie Huey led the way for the girls by winning three individual events on the day. Huey won the 200 meters (26.2), the 400 meters (1:03.6), and the long jump (15-6). Cadance Ullman and Katie Kovalchick also had a good day for the girls, each winning two individual events Ullman took the 100 meters (13.2) and the high jump (4-10). Kovalchick won both the discus (90-11) and the javelin (87-3). Other individual winners for the girls included Hannah Cowburn in the 100 hurdles (18.0) and Brenna Nutter in the pole vault (8-0). The girls fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the section.
Both teams will return to action Friday at the Lady Spartan / Wildcat Invitational at Latrobe.
