Indiana Borough Police have filed animal cruelty charges against two people for an incident in mid-February.
Police say that while they were conducting an unrelated investigation on February 16th, they saw a malnourished dog in the area of North 4th Street. The next day, Criminal Investigators with the police department started an animal welfare investigation and found two dogs at 71 North 4th Street that were malnourished and had visible sores. The two dogs were confined in a pen where animal waste was visible, and one dog was being maintained in a location without heat.
The dogs were voluntarily surrendered to the Indiana County Humane society after the investigation. Charges of aggravated animal cruelty were filed against 22-year-old Kyleigh Lower and 23-year-old Decosta Bobak. The two will go before District Judge Guy Haberl on April 21st for a preliminary hearing.
Indiana Borough Police were assisted by the D.A.’s office, the Indiana County Humane Society and its officers.
