Mired in a four-game losing streak, the Pitt Panthers travel to Brooklyn, New York this afternoon to open the ACC Tournament. Pitt is 11-20 and finished 6-10 in the ACC while the Eagles are 11-19 and were 6-14 in the conference.
The two teams split their games this year, with Pitt winning at home by two points but dropping their game at BC by 13 after numerous delays for covid and a major snowstorm. They played that game without coach Jeff Capel, who was in covid ptotocol.
Capel says his players are zeroed in on Boston College, not on the potential to have their season end this afternoon.
Pitt center John Hugley was named yesterday All-ACC Honorable Mention. This afternoon’s game tips off at two o’clock, with the pregame on WCCS, FM 101.1 and AM 1160 beginning at 1:30.
Lafayette center Neal Quinn told the online Pittsburgh Sports Now yesterday that he has had contact with ACC schools Pitt, NC State, Georgia Tech, and others after entering the transfer portal. The 7-footer averaged 14.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this year. He said he’s spoken with Pitt associate head coach Milan Brown and expects to talk with Brown again soon.
