On Monday, the Indiana School Board approved sending a letter to the members of Indiana Borough Council voicing the board’s concerns on a draft ordinance to decriminalize marijuana in the borough.
In the letter, the school board members said that they believe the proposed ordinance is not in the best interest of the students in the district. Board President Walter Schroth said that it’s the students that they are looking out for.
In other business, the board approved purchasing 5,722.4 square feet of land from Polymer Enterprise, Incorporated that is adjacent to Eisenhower Elementary for the token fee of one dollar. Superintendent Michael Vuckovich talked about why the purchase was made.
The board also approved a contract with Buchart Horn Architects for the design, building and construction management of the Eisenhower renovations and additions, and they also approved the ARIN budget for 2022-2023. The district’s contribution is $158,962.
