Homer-Center, Penns Manor and River Valley girls, along with the Penns Manor boys, advanced in the District 6 playoffs on Saturday.
In the 2A girls’ quarterfinals, Homer-Center routed Juniata Valley, 57-18. Mark Bertig had the recap on WCCS.
In another 2A girls’ quarterfinal, Penns Manor defeated Southern Huntingdon, 44-28. Todd Marino had the recap on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
Homer-Center and Penns Manor will meet in the semifinals on Monday.
Bellwood-Antis edged United, 52-51, in the 2A girls’ quarterfinals.
Also in the 2A girls quarterfinals, Purchase Line closed its season out at 14-11 with a 60-26 loss to No. 1 seed Bishop McCort.
“We played a very competitive first half and hung right with them,” said Purchase Line coach Kelly Goss. “They really applied a ton of pressure in the third quarter and we didn’t handle it well. They are a great team, kudos to them.”
Purchase Line’s Abby Goss had six points and eight rebounds and teammate Bethany Smith had six points and seven rebounds.
The River Valley girls’ team advanced to the championship game by beating Penn Cambria, 51-37. Chuck Clark had the recap on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
The Penns Manor boys beat Heritage Conference rival United, 62-53, in the 2A semifinals. Marino had the recap on WCCS.
