Four fire departments were called out to a fire at an Amish schoolhouse in North Mahoning Township last night.
The fire was reported by Indiana County 911 at 7:20 PM at a structure on Bush Road. Marion Center, Plumville, Dayton and Perry Township fire departments responded along with the Indiana County Rapid Intervention Team and Citizens’ Ambulance. Marion Center Fire officials confirmed the fire was at the Spring Run Amish School. Perry Township fire department was first on the scene and was able to knock most of the fire down as additional units helped with overhaul and ventilation. Officials say that the fire started in the area of a wood burner, and the fire burned a 10 x10 area out of the floor between the first and second story directly above the wood burner. Officials also reported significant smoke and water damage.
Thanks to the fast action by firefighters, the structure is salvageable once repairs are made.
