The sloppy weather conditions yesterday meant a long day for first responders, as they were brought out for several different types of calls.
Yesterday, Indiana County saw a mix of rain, snow and other winter precipitation throughout the day before the temperature went up and changed the precipitation to all rain. During the mid-morning hours, three crashes were reported on Route 22 in both East and West Wheatfield Townships. The first crash was reported at 8:29 AM, with the second and third reported within an hour of the first crash. Armagh and Clyde fire departments were called out for all three of those accidents, along with state police and citizen’s ambulance. Indiana County 911 reported there were no injuries in the crash at 9:05 AM.
A fourth vehicle accident was reported at 10:50 AM in Green Township. Clymer and Commodore fire departments were dispatched at the time along with state police and citizen’s ambulance.
The rain also brought on some basement flooding in the central part of the county. Emergency crews were called out twice to provide pumping services yesterday, with the first call at 12:28 PM at a home along Old Mission Road in Brush Valley Township. Brush Valley fire department was dispatched at the time. The second pumping detail was on 3rd Street in Center Township at 6:10 PM. The Coral-Graceton fire department was dispatched for that basement-pumping detail.
Crews were also called out for an odor investigation on Mine Hill Road in Ernest at 11:46, an EMS assist call along Tipperary Road in Pine Township with Pine Township and Nicktown fire departments asked to assist with lifting. And Iselin Fire Department was called out for a call of utility lines down along Iselin Road in Young Township.
