We mentioned that a criminal call hearing is set for today for one of the suspects in the 2020 Wayne Avenue shooting and robbery. That is part of a full day of criminal call hearings scheduled for the Indiana County Courthouse.
One of the people who will have a hearing today is 44-year-old Matthew Lee Carl Wayne Tiger of Blairsville, who faces charges of resisting arrest, terroristic threats, harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct-fighting. Police say that on September 2nd, Tiger had caused a disturbance along Maple Avenue Extension in Burrell Township. Police went out at 8:21 AM but Tiger had fled on foot by the time they arrived. Tiger was then seen walking out into traffic and impeding oncoming vehicles in the area of Sharps Hill Road and Old William Penn Highway. He resisted arrest as Blairsville police took him into custody.
Also due for a criminal call hearing is 30-year-old Charles Brantley Ross of Homer City. He is charged with aggravated assault-attempted serious bodily injury, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest connected with an incident on August 7th. He was seen along Old William Penn Highway acting in an erratic manner. When police confronted him, he refused to identify himself and tried to be hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Many of the other cases on the schedule for criminal call today include DUI and drug-related crimes. Many of them will not likely see any action. Criminal Call is designed to update the court and the parties involved on the progress of a case. Proceedings are usually postponed to a later date, but on occasion, guilty pleas have been entered at the Criminal Call phase.
