One of the suspects involved in a shooting near IUP campus in February of 2020 will go before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco today for a plea hearing.
Court documents say that 25-year-old Nafis Harper of Bensalem is one of the four suspects that face charges connected with the February 14th, 2020 robbery and shooting at two student rental houses along Wayne Avenue. Harper faces four felony counts of robbery to inflict serious bodily injury, two counts of robbery with the threat of immediate serious injury, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to theft and receiving stolen property, along with conspiracy to aggravated assault. His plea court hearing will be held at 8:30 this morning.
Police say he along with 20-year-old Daron Reel, and 22-year-old Mamadi Saccoh and Samuel Wilson, all of Philadelphia, went to a rental home in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue with the intent to rob it. The four moved on after robbing and assaulting the occupants of the first house, and during the incident at a neighboring house, Reel allegedly shot a man, with a bullet going through his chin and neck, lodging in his shoulder.
Reel was already sentenced to serve between four to 10 years in state prison and for a guilty plea to a charge of robbery-inflicting serious bodily injury and a year of probation after his imprisonment. Saccoh has a criminal call hearing scheduled for January 7th, while Wilson will have a criminal call hearing tomorrow morning.
