The current and acting mayor of Indiana Borough has conceded yesterday’s election to his opponent.
In a statement made to Your Hometown Stations, acting Mayor Joseph Trimarchi said that he felt that he could not make up the 11 votes in the race between him and William Simmons. He thanked Simmons for running a clean campaign and wished him well as the new Mayor of Indiana Borough.
The race was one of the closest in the 2021 general election in Indiana County, with Simmons receiving 954 votes compared to Trimarchi’s 943. Trimarchi was named Mayor after George Hood stepped down after moving out of the borough to live with his daughter in White Township due to health reasons.
