Indiana Regional Medical Center is continuing to monitor the situation concerning their intensive care unit and inpatient capacity.
According to a briefing sent today, both departments at IRMC and Punxsutawney Area Hospital remain very busy as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. The hospital currently has 32 Covid-19 positive inpatients, and the hospital’s Emergency department is averaging 93 patients a day. 35 percent of those are asking for a Covid-19 test. This has come nearly two weeks after IRMC officials asked people to come to the emergency department for emergency calls only, and not for non-emergency reasons like getting tested for Covid-19.
Tomorrow, IRMC will begin a weekly vaccination clinic at the KCAC to allow those who have received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to get a third immunization. These clinics will be held every Tuesday through the month of October from 10-6 PM. A clinic will also be held as part of the Downtown Indiana Third Thursday event at IRMC Park on October 21st from 5-7 PM. To register, you can log on to www.irmc.org/vaccine.
