A convicted drug dealer was sentenced Tuesday morning in Indiana County Court.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that 31-year-old Kyle William Rider of Homer City was ordered to serve five to ten years in state prison for a guilty plea to possession of 1-10 grams of fentanyl with the intent to distribute that he entered in June of this year. In February of 2020, Indiana Borough Police Department along with members of the county’s drug task force received word that Rider was selling fentanyl, and law enforcement officials set up a controlled buy using a confidential informant. Rider allegedly sold two grams of a heroin-fentanyl mix to the informant.
In his statement, Manzi said that he hopes the lengthy prison sentence handed down by Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco this morning will discourage other drug dealers from operating in the county, and warned that if someone wants to take over for Rider, authorities will investigate, prosecute and send them to state prison as well.
