Coors Field in Denver is supposed to be a hitter’s dream, but it’s been a nightmare so far for the Pirates, who have failed to score a run there in the first two games of a three-game series. Last night, they were almost no-hit.
Greg Brown has the story.
The Pirates have only seven hits in eighteen innings in Colorado, all of them singles.
First baseman Colin Moran was not in the lineup last night, a day after getting hit by a pitch on the left wrist. Shelton said Moran’s availability for this afternoon’s game will be based on how he feels today. Left-hander Sam Howard was activated from the injured list and rejoined the Pirates’ bullpen last night. Austin Davis was sent back to Indianapolis.
TODAY: The Pirates close their seven-game road trip with the series finale against the Rockies. Chad Kuhl (2-4, 5.05 ERA) goes for the Bucs against Colorado’s John Gray (4-6, 3.97 ERA). 2:45 airtime on WCCS.
