The Altoona Curve were winners in their afternoon matchup against Richmond earlier today, beating the Flying Squirrels, 9-4.
Oneil Cruz got Altoona on the board in the first with his fifth home run of the season. Cruz would drive in another on an RBI single in the third. He would finish the day 4-for-5 with four RBIs.
Cal Mitchell followed that up with a two-run double to put the Curve ahead 5-0. Raul Hernandez and Ji-Hwan Bae each had two hits in the game.
Richmond would tally two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Curve would post an eight spot in the eighth inning headlined by an RBI triple by Jonah Davis, his third this season.
Travis MacGregor picked up his first win of the season after allowing just one hit and two earned runs over five innings. He would add five strikeouts and allow just two walks. Cam Vieaux and Will Gardner held the Flying Squirrels in check through the middle innings and Hunter Stratton shut the door in the ninth with a perfect inning.
