Injuries were reported in a crash that occurred in Young Township this afternoon. A crash that saw five fire departments and two ambulance services respond.
Indiana County 9-1-1 reports that shortly after 12:30 p.m., fire crews from Iselin and Coal Run, along with Pennsylvania State Police, were dispatched to reports of a car crashing into a tree along Blackleggs Road in Saltsburg. Saltsburg and Elderton fire departments were called into assist.
Coal Run fire captain Dan Eckenrode said one person was trapped inside the vehicle, but both the driver and passenger suffered injuries in the crash. One was taken by Citizens Ambulance to the Indiana Regional Medical Center, and the other was airlifted by Lifestat Emergency Services to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. No word is available on the severity of their injuries.
Eckenrode adds that it took a little over an hour from the initial dispatch to extricate the passenger, and the road was closed for multiple hours. Clean-up crews were still at the scene of the crash around 5 p.m., and a police investigation is underway.
Indiana County 9-1-1 also reports a crash that happened before 3 p.m. in Cherryhill Township. Clymer and Commodore fire crews were dispatched, however no further details are available at this time.
