Indiana County 911 dispatched Homer City, Coral-Graceton, Indiana, Brush Valley and Black Lick firefighters to 26 Greeley Street along with the county’s hazmat team and Citizens’ ambulance. Homer City Fire Chief Terry Gardner said they did not know the nature of the fire, so they called in five fire departments for manpower backup just in case.
Gardner said firefighters found that a wood burning stove in the basement may have been the cause of the fire. Homer City firefighters were called back to the scene for a rekindle at 6:43 this morning. Fire marshals are currently on the scene investigating.
No injuries were reported, and smoke damage was reported in the main living area. The house is still deemed livable.
