Congratulations to Nico Fanella, who placed third in the Phil Portuguese North East USA Wrestling Freestyle tournament this weekend and will represent Pennsylvania at the nation individual freestyle tournament in Fargo, North Dakota.
Nico won his consolation round match, 7-4 over Shane McFillin of Bethlehem Catholic for third place by a score of 7-4 in the 16-and-under 100-pound weight class. The bracket featured 6 state champions, as well as representatives from Maine, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Nico will also represent the state as part of the PA State National Duals team in Westfield, Indiana next month. Nico is from Indiana.
