The Pirates lost to the San Francisco Giants, 4-1, at PNC Park on Sunday, splitting their four-game weekend series at two wins each.
Ka’ai Tom knocked in Jacob Stallings with the only Pirates run in the fourth inning, tying the score at the time, but the Giants plated a run in the sixth and two more in the ninth to seal the win.
Mitch Keller struck out eight batters in five innings of work. Adam Frazier and Erik Gonzalez each collected two hits for the Pirates.
The Pirates, who fell to 17-23, are off Monday before heading to St. Louis for games Tuesday and Wednesday.
