BASEBALL
HOMER-CENTER – 14, BLAIRSVILLE – 0 – FINAL/5
The Homer-Center Wildcats banged out nine hits in a 14-run mercy rule win over Blairsville on Thursday.
Anthony Rowland earned the win, allowing just one hit in five innings, striking out six and walking three. Rowland also went 2-for-3 on offense with a three-run triple in the first inning. Michael Krejocic went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a home run.
Both teams return to the diamond on Friday. Homer-Center will go against Marion Center, while Blairsville takes on Penns Manor.
SALTSBURG – 10, UNITED – 9
United rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh, but Saltsburg held off the Lions and won, 10-9, on Thursday. Angelo Bartolini hit a grand slam in the fourth to give the Trojans their first lead of the game, and Saltsburg scoredd four more in the bottom of the sixth to notch double digits.
For United, Bradley Felix and Isaac Worthington each hit a home run, while Jon Henry and Wade Plowman each had two hits. Hunter Cameron stole three bases.
The win puts Saltsburg at 2-1 on the year and they return to action on Monday against Homer-Center. United will close this week’s action out on Friday against Purchase Line.
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – 16, BISHOP GUILFOYLE – 17
In the opening round of the annual “Curve Classic”, the Northern Cambria Colts fell to the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at People’s Natural Gas Field on Friday. The Colts opened with a 5-0 lead after two innings, and they posted six in the third, but the Marauders fought back with an eight-run fifth inning to take their first lead of the game.
Northern Cambria tied the game in the top of the seventh, but the Marauders would walk it off in the bottom half to win.

MARION CENTER – 11, WEST SHAMOKIN – 3
Marion Center’s bats exploded for 11 runs on offense as they defeated the West Shamokin Wolves in Heritage Conference play on Thursday. The Stingers tallied eight runs in the first three innings of the game and added the final three in the fifth.
Marion Center will take a 2-1 record into a matchup with the Homer-Center Wildcats on Friday, while West Shamokin, also 2-1 on the year, will battle Purchase Line on Monday.

SOFTBALL
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – 10, PENNS MANOR – 7
The Colts strung together seven runs in the final three innings to come from behind and hand the Comets their first loss of the season.
Jessica Krug led the way for Northern Cambria, going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and two singles on the day. She also stole three bases and had a pair of RBIs. Kenzie Formeck and Jensen Wiewiora collected two hits each and Ally Trybus hit her first home run of the season.
The Comets were led by Kassidy Smith, who was 4-for-4 with a double, and Hayden Sturgeon, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Anna Peterman also collected two hits.
Both teams hold 2-1 overall records and will return to action on Friday. Northern Cambria will take on West Shamokin and Penns Manor will face Blairsville.
