Indiana County’s Sustainable Economic Development Task Force will hold a public forum today to discuss the effects of energy policy, consumer demand, and technology on the region’s workforce. That’s a topic of much concern with the Wolf Administration’s effort to impose the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative on Pennsylvania, which would threaten the coal-fired power plants in Indiana County.
Panelists for the event will include representatives of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers; the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance; and E2, which stands for Environmental Entrepreneurs, a national organization that advocates for policies that protect the environment while building economic prosperity.
Each panelist will offer a brief presentation, and there will be a question-and-answer session.
You can access the event, which is titled “Shifts in the Energy Industry: Impacts on Our Workforce,” by visiting the Facebook page of the Indiana County Sustainable Economic Development Task Force. It gets underway at noon.
