The Indiana Area Collaborative Team, also known as I-ACT, have released the figures from IUPatty’s Weekend, which ran from last Friday to yesterday.
During that time, IUP police had 80 service complaints, compared to 61 from the weekend before. Campus Police issued three public drunkenness citations, and one report each of open container violation, unauthorized liquor, criminal mischief and theft. IUP Police also reported that they assisted Indiana Borough Police 12 times over the weekend.
Speaking of Borough Police, 108 calls were investigated over the weekend, compared to 194 from last year. Most of the incidents were noise complaints (11), and thefts (6). Police also reported three harassments, two disorderly gathering and disorderly conduct investigations, and one investigation into criminal mischief, drug investigations, DUI and a fugitive from justice.
State police reported that in White Township, from March 18th to the 21st, they reported fourteen incidents, including four incidents each of DUI and disturbances/noise complaints, including two incidents involving the same suspect. On Friday night, police were called out at 11:48 PM for a large disturbance on Malibu Drive, where a large party of several hundred people was blocking the roadway. Troopers issued an order to disperse and the area was reopened 30 minutes later without further police intervention. About 24 hours later, troopers were called back out to the same place for another large party coordinated by the same person from the night before. After the party was broken up, police cited a 24-year-old Philadelphia Man with disorderly conduct.
Troopers also made four DUI arrests, investigated two crashes, served two warrants, arrested one person for drug possession and investigated a case of simple assault.
I-ACT also reported no increase in calls to IUP for Citizens Ambulance, IRMC, the Indiana Fire Association and the Emergency Management Agency. White Township officials did report gatherings but no incidents of significant concern were reported.
