Indiana Borough Police say that after a month-long investigation into possible Covid-19 violations, they are not filing charges against a bar in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street.
In a statement, Chief Justin Schawl said that starting on February 4th, police started to receive several complaints about a bar in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street not complying with the state’s Covid-19 mandates. Police started an investigation into the business, which included interviews with the owners, the review of a video clip that was released publicly, and independent observations, along with the assistance of the State Police Bureau of Liquor Enforcement. As a result, Schawl said he is satisfied that there are no violations within the business, even though on the outside it may have looked differently, and have closed the investigation without filing charges.
Chief Shawl added that while this particular investigation is closed, the police will continue to work with borough officials and stakeholders on how to address crowds, lines and outdoor public gatherings as Spring approaches.
