With the remaking of the minor leagues in recent weeks, major league clubs are only now putting together their coaching staffs and front offices.
The Chicago Cubs have officially announced that Indiana native Michael Ryan will manage their High-Class A team, the South Bend Cubs, who are a member of the newly-formed High-A Central League.
Ryan, who was let go by the Pirates in 2019 after leading the Altoona Curve to the Eastern league championship in 2017 and back to the playoff the following year, was scheduled to manage the Cubs’ Double-A Tennessee Smokies last year before minor league baseball was canceled due to the pandemic.
