No one was hurt but three pet cats perished in a fire last night on North Taylor Avenue in Indiana Borough.
Indiana County 911 reported that Indiana Fire companies one and two were dispatched along with Citizens Ambulance and Borough Police to the two story home on Taylor Avenue near Chestnut Street at 9:29 PM. Creekside, Clymer and Homer City fire departments were called in a few minutes later to assist, while Plumville, Coral Graceton and Commodore fire departments were called in to standby.
Indiana Fire Officials say the fire started in the kitchen, but the exact cause is not known at this time. Two residents were able to get out unscathed. Their identities have not been released, but we have been told that they were two women, one in her 60’s and the other in her 70’s.
The home was able to be saved, but it did take on a lot of smoke, water and heat-related damage and will need repairs. An area church is assisting the homeowners.
